AUNT LIZZY'S POUND CAKES 
2 sticks butter
1/2 c. solid shortening
3 c. sugar
5 lg. eggs
3 c. plain flour
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 c. milk
1 tsp. vanilla flavoring
1 tsp. lemon flavoring

Cream butter and shortening. Add sugar. Beat until well mixed. Add eggs, one at a time. Sift flour and baking powder. Add white milk to mixture, then add flavoring.

Hi Since 1898 when my great grandmother cut it out of the NY Times, we have had a 'Lizzie' cake in my family. She was my greatgrandmother and I learned how to make it with her. It is now the official birthday cake in my family as well as friends I have introduced to it. I im making one right now.
We dont use milk and I flavor with almond sometimes but my Lizzie cake is almost identical to yours.
