STREUSEL TORTE 
DOUGH:

1/2 lb. butter
1 c. sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
1 egg
4 c. flour
4 level tsp. baking powder
3 tbsp. cracker meal

Cream butter and sugar; add egg and vanilla. Combine flour and baking powder and add 1/2 of it to the creamed mixture by spoonfuls. Add the rest of the flour and work through with 2 forks or hands to make crumbs.

FILLING:

2 lbs. (6 med.) apples
1 tbsp. vanilla
Sugar for taste

Peel apples and slice them into 1/4-inch slices. Mix with sugar and vanilla. Put 1/2 of the crumb mixture into greased 9-inch springform. Press down and up the sides. Spread cracker meal over it. Add the apples. Pour the rest of the crumbs on top and press down lightly around the edge. Bake at 350 degrees for 40 minutes.
