SPANISH SKILLET RICE | |
3/4 c. reg. rice (white) 1/2 c. chopped onion 1 clove garlic, minced 1 lb. lean ground beef 1 (1 lb.) can tomatoes, cut up 1 c. water 2/3 c. Heinz chili sauce 1 tbsp. chili powder 1 tsp. each, salt and sugar 1/4 c. chopped green pepper In skillet, brown rice, onion and garlic in butter; stir frequently. Add meat, browning just until meat loses red color; stir occasionally. Drain excess fat. Stir in tomatoes and next 6 ingredients. Bring just to a boil; stir in green pepper. Cover; simmer 30-35 minutes or until rice is tender. Toss mixture well before serving. Makes 4-5 servings. |
