"GINGER SNAPS" MOLASSES COOKIES 
1 c. sugar
3/4 c. shortening
1 egg, beaten
4 tbsp. molasses
2 c. flour
2 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. salt
1 tsp. ginger
1 tsp. cinnamon

Sift together flour, soda, salt, ginger and cinnamon. Mix together ingredients and chill for 2 hours or overnight. Shape into balls and dip the tops in sugar. Do not press down.

Bake until tops crack but not dry.

Bake at 350°F.

Frosting:

3 heaping tbsp. butter
1/4 c. or more milk or cream
powdered sugar

Melt butter and add milk or cream. Add powdered sugar until spreading consistency. It works best to frost while the frosting is warm and not too thick.
