1 c. sugar
3 tbsp. shortening
1 egg
2 c. flour
Pinch of salt
1/2 c. nuts
1 1/2 c. raisins
1 c. boiling water
1 tsp. baking soda

Grease the inside of 3 tin cans (the size from canned vegetables or beans). Pour boiling water over raisins, soda and nuts. Allow to cool. Combine with all other ingredients. Fill cans 2/3 full. Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour.
