"SIS'S" HOMEMADE CHILI | |
2 lbs. ground beef 2 med. onions 1 med. bell pepper 3 tbsp. chili powder 3 cans hot chili beans 1 sm. can tomato paste 1 lg. (15 oz.) can tomato sauce 1 sm. (8 oz.) can tomato sauce 1 sm. bottle hot ketchup Chop onions and bell pepper up real fine. Place in large pot with a little water and cook until done. Meanwhile cook ground beef, stirring while cooking to crumble. Drain well. Add meat to bell pepper and onion mixture and cook 20 minutes over medium heat, stirring occasionally. Stir in chili powder, mixing well. Add tomato paste and sauces, mixing well. Cook 20 more minutes on medium heat. Add chili beans and turn off heat and cover. In 10 minutes, add ketchup and stir well. Add salt and pepper to taste. Makes about 1 to 1 1/2 gallons of chili. Note: This recipe, which freezes well, tastes better and better each time it's reheated. |
