SUGAR - NUT STICKS | |
2 c. all-purpose flour 1 tbsp. sugar 3/4 c. butter, soft 1/4 c. milk 1 egg, beaten 1/2 c. sugar 1/4 c. butter, soft 1/4 c. raisins, if desired 1/4 c. chopped nuts 1 tsp. almond extract Mix flour and 1 tablespoon sugar. Cut in 3/4 cup butter until particles are the size of peas. Stir in milk aand egg until dough forms a ball nd cleans side of bowl. Divide dough in half. Roll half of dough into rectangle, 12 x 4 inches on lightly floured board. Place on ungreased baking sheet. Repeat with remaining dough. Heat oven to 350 degrees. Mix 1/2 cup sugar, 1/4 cup butter, the raisins, nuts and extract. Spread half of the sugar mixture lengthwise down center of each rectangle. Bring long edges of dough together, seal securely. Bake 30 minutes. Cool slightly, drizzle with Glaze. Cut crosswise into 1 inch sticks. 24 sticks. GLAZE: 1/2 c. powdered sugar 1 tbsp. water Mix until smooth. |
