OVEN STEW ITALIANO 
1 lb. beef stew meat
1/4 c. flour
2 tbsp. oil
8 carrots, pared, sliced in 1 inch lengths
4 potatoes, pared and quartered
1 pkg. onion soup mix
1/2 tsp. oregano
1/2 tsp. basil
4 c. water

Coat beef with flour. Toss with oil in 3 quart casserole. Bake, uncovered at 400 degrees, 30 minutes. Stir once, then combine all remaining ingredients. Mix into meat well. Cover. Bake at 375 degrees for 2 hours or until meat is tender.
