2 1/2 c. flour
1 c. brown sugar
3/4 c. Wesson oil
3/4 c. white sugar
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking soda
1 egg, beaten
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. mace
1/2 c. nuts
1 c. buttermilk
1/2 tsp. nutmeg

Mix the first five ingredients together by hand, then take out 1 cup for topping. To the remaining, add soda, egg, baking powder, mace, nuts, buttermilk and nutmeg. Pour into two 8 x 8 inch pans. Sprinkle with topping and nuts and bake at 350 degrees 25 to 30 minutes.
