ANGEL BISCUITS | |
1 pkg. active dry yeast 2-3 tbsp. warm water (not hot) 5 c. flour 1/4 c. sugar 1 tbsp. baking powder 1 tsp. baking soda 1 tsp. salt 2 c. buttermilk Dissolve yeast in water; mix flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda and salt. Mix in shortening with a fork or two knives until crumbly. Stir in yeast and buttermilk. Roll out floured surface to about 1/2 inch thick. Cut with floured cutter and place on baking pan. Bake at 400 degrees (hot oven) 10-20 minutes or until golden brown. Note: Allow biscuits to rise before baking. Also, dough will keep in refrigerator for a day or two. |
