ANGEL BISCUITS | |
1 pkg. yeast 1/2 c. lukewarm water 5 c. flour 1 tsp. salt 1 tsp. baking soda 1 tbsp. baking powder 3 tbsp. sugar 3/4 c. shortening 2 c. buttermilk (can be made with reg. milk and vinegar added - 2 c. milk plus 2 tbsp. vinegar) Dissolve yeast in water and set aside. Mix flour, salt, soda, baking powder, and sugar. Cut in shortening (I use Crisco). Add yeast mixture and buttermilk. Do not overmix. On floured board, roll out and cut. Put in round baking pan. Let rise. Bake at 425 degrees about 12 minutes. These can be refrigerated, uncooked, for as long as a month in a sealed container. |
