“POUND CAKE” IS IN:

POUND CAKE 
Cake:

1/4 lb. butter (not unsalted)
1 cup vegetable shortening
2 1/2 cups sugar
1/4 tsp. salt
6 eggs
3 tsp. baking powder
3 cups sifted cake flour
3/4 cup milk
1 tsp. vanilla

Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease and dust lightly with flour a Bundt pan or angel food pan.

In an electric mixer, beat butter with shortening, gradually adding sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well until combined.

Combine vanilla and milk.

On wax paper, combine and sift cake flour, baking powder and salt. Add 1/3 of the flour mixture; then 1/2 of the milk mixture, repeat until all ingredients are mixed in. Pour batter into a greased angel food cake pan and spread evenly.

Bake at 350°F for 1 1/4 hours or until a wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean. Frost with Pound Cake Frosting.

Pound Cake Frosting:

3/4 stick butter, melted
1 egg white
dash salt
1 tsp. vanilla or almond

Beat all ingredients together until light and fluffy spread on cake.
