CABBAGE SOUP 
2 med. onions, thinly sliced
5 slices bacon, finely minced
2 (10 1/2 oz.) cans condensed beef broth
2 can water
5 c. coarsely shredded cabbage
2 carrots, sliced
2 med. potatoes, cubed
1 stalk celery, with leaves, sliced
2 tomatoes, cut up
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. pepper
1 clove garlic, optional

Saute and stir onions in bacon until tender. Add broth, water, cabbage, carrots, potatoes, and celery. Heat to boiling, reduce heat and cover and simmer until vegetables are tender, about 20 minutes. Stir in tomatoes, salt and pepper. Simmer uncovered 10 minutes. Serves 4.
