SWEET PICKLE 
8 lbs. cucumbers
2 c. lime
1 1/2 tbsp. alum (stir well)

Wash cucumbers and cut into slices. Soak overnight in water to cover.

Second day: Wash 3 times in cold water.

2 qts. vinegar
11 c. sugar (5 lbs.)
1 heaping tbsp. mixed pickle spices (tie in cloth)
2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. turmeric

Put pickles in solution and let stand for 2 hours. Boil in same container for 30 minutes. Put in hot jars and seal. (Will seal on their own).
