GRANNY SMITH CHOCOLATE OATMEAL PIE | |
Really tastes like "Granny" baked it! 4 eggs 1 cup sugar 2 tbsp. flour 1 teaspoon cinnamon 1/8 teaspoon salt 2 tbsp. melted butter 1/2 cup light corn syrup 1/2 cup honey 1 teaspoon vanilla extract 1 cup oats 2 Granny Smith apples, peeled, cored and chopped 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips 9-inch deep-dish pie crust, unbaked Preheat oven to 350°F. In a large bowl, beat eggs until frothy. In a separate small bowl, mix together flour, cinnamon and salt. Stir into eggs until blended. Add butter, corn syrup, honey and vanilla and blend. Fold in oatmeal, chopped apples and chocolate chips. Pour into pie crust and bake 1 hour and 10 minutes or until pie is set. Let cool before slicing. Note: A dollop of whipped cream or a scoop of vanilla ice cream can be served on top, though a steaming mug of coffee or a glass of cold milk may be all that's needed to enjoy this home-style treat.
