HAMBURGER AND HOT DOG BUNS | |
2 cakes yeast 1/2 c. warm water 2 c. scalded milk 1/2 c. shortening 1/2 c. sugar 1 tbsp. salt 2 eggs, beaten 7 1/2 c. flour, 2 lb. Dissolve yeast in warm water. Add sugar to scalded milk, salt, and shortening. Stir until dissolved and cool to lukewarm. Sift flour into large mixing bowl. Add eggs, yeast and part of milk mixture. Then add milk until all is stirred in. Mix thoroughly. If dough is to be used immediately, cover with a damp cloth and let rise. If to be used later, store in refrigerator for several days - brush surface with soft shortening and cover until ready to use. Bake at 400 degrees for 15 minutes. |
