BANANA CREAM CAKE 
2 c. sifted flour
1 1/3 c. sugar
1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1/2 c. shortening, softened
1 c. mashed banana
1/4 c. milk
1 tsp. vanilla
2 eggs
1/2 c. chopped walnuts

Sift dry ingredients over shortening. Add bananas, milk, and vanilla. Mix until moistened. Beat for 2 minutes. Add eggs; beat 2 minutes longer. Stir in nuts. Pour into greased and floured 9x9 pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 35-40 minutes. Frost with Sour Cream Frosting.

SOUR CREAM FROSTING:

1 c. sour cream
1/3 c. brown sugar
1/4 c. broken walnuts

Combine sour cream and brown sugar. Spread over cake. Sprinkle with walnuts. Bake at 350 degrees for 5 more minutes. Cut into squares when cool. Garnish with sliced bananas. Yield: 12 servings.
