CABBAGE AU GRATIN 
4 c. shredded cabbage
2 tbsp. melted butter
1 1/2 tbsp. flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1 c. milk
1 c. shredded Cheddar cheese
2 c. bread crumbs
4 tbsp. melted butter

Boil cabbage 5 minutes in just enough water to cover. Drain well. Combine 2 tablespoons melted butter, flour and salt in saucepan. Cook over low heat, stirring constantly, until bubbly. Gradually add milk. Cook, stirring constantly, until smooth and thickened. Alternate layers of cabbage, cheese and white sauce in a greased 1 1/2 quart casserole.

Combine bread crumbs and 4 tablespoons melted butter, stirring until moistened. Sprinkle crumbs over casserole. Bake at 350 degrees for 25 minutes. Serves 6.
