POOR MAN'S PORK CHOW MEIN | |
1-2 sm. pork steaks 1 can chow mein noodles 3-4 stalks celery, sliced diagonally 1-2 sm. white onions Sm. can mushrooms, ends and pieces 1 cube chicken bouillon Cornstarch to thicken 1 tsp. to 1 tbsp. sugar as desired 2-3 tbsp. soy sauce as desired Inexpensive as compared to pork chops Cut pork steaks into small bite-size pieces. Slice onions to produce round rings 1/4 to 3/8-inch thick. Brown pork pieces in skillet. Add celery and onions, let cook 2-3 minutes. Add bouillon cube and 1 cup water. Add sugar to taste; add soy sauce. Let cook for 2 minutes; stir and mix. Add cornstarch to thicken sauce; cook starch thoroughly. Mix meat and vegetables one last time to coat all surfaces. Serve over noodles; noodles will absorb juices and be another flavor treat. Serves 4. |
