OLD TIME VINEGAR COBBLER | |
1 c. water 1/2 c. shortening 2 1/2 c. flour 1 tsp. salt 1 tsp. baking powder Make this into a dough and roll out into an oblong about 1 inch thick. Sprinkle it with cinnamon and sugar. Roll up as a jelly roll and slice into 1/2 inch pieces. Place these in a buttered oblong casserole dish. Now, make a syrup of the following: 3 tbsp. vinegar 1/2 c. sugar 3 tbsp. flour 1 stick butter Dash of cinnamon Heat this to boiling and pour over the rolls in the casserole. Bake at 350 degrees for about 40 minutes. It's better to add 1/2 the syrup and bake about 25 minutes, then add the other half. This is good. Serve with cream (or ice cream) for a real treat! |
