Bowl
Milk or cream

Fresh clean snow

Beat 2 eggs in a large bowl. Add 2 cups milk or cream, 1 1/2 cups sugar and 3 tablespoons vanilla. Mix together and add enough fresh, clean snow to create the proper consistency. Sort of like slush. Serve this yummy treat in a dish or ice cream cone.

This is how my mom always used to make it while I was growing up..Since growing up though I'm scared of eating raw eggs especially if I'm feeding it to my kids so I like using the sweetened condensed milk (Eagle Brand). So although I know this recipe tastes great, the eggs still scare me especially if you have young children eating it.

Had fun making this recipe with my daughter and nephew, my husband enjoyed getting the snow and mixing the ingredients. A fun activity and treat when you are stuck in the house from snow.

I began making this recipe when I first got married. It became a snow tradition for my husband and I. We love this recipe and plan on it becoming a part of our 4 children's childhood. I hope that it brings back great memories for them as they prepare it for their children someday. We just had our first white Christmas. Snow cream over the Christmas holidays is a great way to celebrate!!

I'm sure Chuck has his sources, but I grew up in the South and moved to Idaho a year and a half ago. We just got a huge snow here and I called my Nana to ask for her recipe. It was this exactly, just a few adjustments to ingredient portions.

Also, the only difference between what Chuck listed and what's listed here is the eggs. Milk/cream/sweetened & condensed milk are pretty much up to the person, though my Southern grandma hadn't ever used S&C milk to make snow cream (evaporated milk, yes). Plus, S&C milk would take the place of the eggs as far as consistency goes, and would be "safer" for those afraid to eat raw egg.

I did however totally set my bowl out last night to collect the snow and nearly couldn't find it this morning! It was buried :)

These recipes for snow cream are out of hand. you dont need all of those ingredients. the real snow cream recipe from the poor southern recipes is as follows. Place a large bowl out when its supposed to snow. bring it in when its full. use one can sweetend condensed milk, and a table spoon of vanilla or what ever flavor extract you want to use. mix it n serve it.
