NAVY CAKE (CHOCOLATE) | |
2 eggs 1 c. oil 1 c. buttermilk (substitute: add 1 tbsp. vinegar to regular milk) 1 c. hot water 1 tsp. vanilla 1/2 c. cocoa 2 c. sugar 2 c. flour 1/2 tsp. salt 2 1/2 tsp. baking soda Mix first 7 ingredients together; then add flour, salt, baking soda. Bake 45 minutes at 350 degrees in 9x13 inch greased pan; no flour. FROSTING: About 5 minutes before cake is done, cook frosting on stove. Pour over cake as soon as it comes out of oven. Serve warm. 1 c. water 1 c. sugar 4 tbsp. cornstarch 1/2 c. cocoa 1/4 tsp. salt Cook on stove. This will turn to pudding. Take off flame. Add 3 tablespoons butter and 1 teaspoon vanilla. A family favorite! |
