BOSTON BRAN MUFFINS 
1 c. bran cereal (not flakes)
3/4 c. milk
1/2 c. molasses
1 egg
1/3 c. soft shortening
1/2 c. raisins
1 1/2 c. all purpose flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1/3 tsp. baking soda

Combine bran, milk, and molasses. Add the egg and shortening. Beat well. Stir in raisins. Stir together the flour, baking powder, soda, and salt. Add to bran mixture. Stir just until combined without over beating. Pour mixture into paper-lined or non-stick muffin pans and bake at 400 degrees for 20 minutes. Makes 12.
