BBQ RIBS IN CROCK POT
3 to 4 lbs. boneless spare ribs
1 each onion, sliced
3 cloves garlic, minced
1 (16 oz.) bottle smoke BBQ sauce (or any brand)

Sprinkle ribs with salt and pepper. Place ribs under broiler on a pan until browned (up to 15 minutes) and remove excess grease.

Put sliced onion and minced garlic in crock pot. Slice ribs into serving pieces and put in crock pot. Pour BBQ sauce over ribs.

Cover and cook on low 6 to 8 hours. Add a cup of hot broth mixed with a tablespoon of flour to the bottom of the crock pot during the final hour of cooking if you want a gravy to serve alongside the ribs.

Bbq Ribs in Crock Pot

When the recipe says "Place ribs 'UNDER' broiler pan for 30 mnutes to brown", shouldn't it say "ON broiler pan" rather than "UNDER." My thinking is put the ribs on a broiler pan in the oven on broil so the fat drips through the slots INTO the pan underneath. Or have I got it all wrong? Thirty minutes seems like a long time to broil meat.

Most older ovens have a broiler drawer at the bottom, where the element is above the cooking area, hence your meat would be "under the broiler, on a pan", cheaper ovens use the broil setting to only turn on the top element, wherein you would move your top rack all the way up to achieve the same effect. And no, 30 minutes is not a long time to broil a cut that takes 3 hours to cook over an open flame.

I loved this simple recipe! I prepared mine with bone-in country style beef ribs and my family couldn't get enough. I added extra onions and added the broth/flour just a few minutes before serving. I will make this again and again.

This was an awesome recipe.. I am still kind of a newlywed and I am still learning how to cook! My husband works 24 hour shifts at the fire department so today (Valentine's Day) I decided to make this for him. I put mine under the broiler for about 20 minutes and left it in the crock pot for eight hours.. My husband loved it! I felt so proud to finally do some home-cooking but it was so simple!

I am an OLDLYwed but I'm always looking for something different/easy. My husband is not a fan of BBQ but he managed to wolf down these ribs without any complaints! I will definitely pass this on to my daughters and friends. Yum!

I made these with bone in pork spare ribs! So excellent. I doubt I broiled them over 15 minutes (turning once). They kind of smoked up my kitchen. Then slow cooked 6hrs with Bullseye BBQ. Hubby said they were better than Rib City Grill and almost as good as Texas Roadhouse (his favorite ribs). I didn't bother thickening the sauce.

I'm am two and half hours in. I broiled each side 10 minutes. Now I'm hoping cooking on low for 6-8 hours = cooking on high for 4 hours!!

It is the slooooow cook that makes them "fall off the bone" tender. I put them on low in the morning (Grill ahead on the Q) and go to work. 12 hours later.. WOW!
