BREAD AND BUTTER PICKLES 
6 qt. cucumbers (about 12 med. size) sliced
6 med. size onions, sliced

Cover onions and cucumbers with 1 cup Kosher salt, then cover with ice cubes. Ice for 3 hours. Drain well.

BRINE:

1 1/2 c. mustard seed
1/4 tsp. pepper
1 tsp. celery seed
6 c. sugar
1 1/2 qt. cider vinegar
1 1/2 tsp. turmeric powder

Mix together. Place brine in a large pan. Put in the cucumbers and onions. Simmer for about 10-15 minutes. Do Not Boil. Place in sterile jars and seal. Makes 8-10 pints.
