NORTHERN BAPTIST CHILI SAUCE | |
2 qt. ripe tomatoes 2 c. chopped celery 2 c. chopped onions 2 red peppers 2 green peppers 3 c. cooking apples 3 c. sugar 2 c. vinegar 1/2 tsp. cinnamon 1/4 tsp. nutmeg 3 tbsp. salt 1 sm. can tomato paste Bring all ingredients except tomato paste to a boil. Boil for 1/2 hour. Add tomato paste and boil 1/2 hour longer. Seal in jars. This can be used on meat loaf or hamburgers and also makes a delicious salad dressing. Mix with mayonnaise and a little bit of milk and it's a good dressing for mixed vegetable salad, or just on lettuce. Makes 7-8 pints. |
