You are to give a review. If you can't resist giving your opinion of how to make it better or offering your recipe, then POST YOUR OWN RECIPE. You are all missing the point and being very rude to contributor!

This was a great recipe. I used ground turkey instead of beef. I would agree with the reviewer that cooked the crescents for 10 minutes before adding the filing. I added lettuce, tomatoes, and salsa on top.

Just a note - I never have add water to ground burger when using Taco Seasoning. I have always added the Taco Seasoning to the meat and onions right at the beginning of the cooking processes. I generally do this with any seasoning that I want the meat to absorb the flavor of. I've been feeding people professionally and non-professionally for over 55 years. :)

This is a favorite of my kids'! We use 2 cake pans and double the recipe so everyone can have seconds. My only piece of advice is I bake the crescent rolls a bit before I add the rest of the ingredients. In the past, they seemed a bit doughy in the middle of the pans, baking about 10 minutes before adding the toppings is a real help!

I have loved this since I was a child, thicker is better!!! I personally use a deep lasagna pan for mine. I use 4 pounds of cheese, 4 pounds of burger, 3 packs of taco seasoning, large tub of sour cream, two bags of fritos (the fritos I crush up, gives it a great flavor). My recipe serves about 8-10 people and I have not found anyone that does not like it!!! The best ever!! Has been my favorite for 25 years.

I think the phrase few tips to make it "better"... would not have provoked a defensive response if had been stated as perhaps... a few tips I use in my variation or your wonderful recipe... Just a thought.

I made this for my in-laws and my father-in-law insisted I send the recipe home with my mother-in-law, must have went over good, next time I'm going to try making it with already made pie crust. Thanks for the yummy recipe!!!

I made this for a cookout last night and it was a HUGE hit! Thanks for sharing!

I have made and enjoyed a similar recipe since I was a little girl, but here are a few tips to make it better....

First use a pie dish so it is not too thick and after all its taco pie NOT taco casserole.

Second.... DO NOT ADD ANY WATER to the drained ground beef, JUST the sour cream. Stir and pour over unbaked crescent rolls topped with FRITO'S, not tortilla chips, so that it will set firmly and not ever be runny.

Bake at 375°F for 20 minutes, remove from oven. Sprinkle another layer of crushed FRITO'S then top with grated cheese and put back in oven for 10 minutes or until cheese is melted and bubbling.

Remove from oven, let stand for 10 minutes and serve topped with sour cream, salsa, lettuce, tomatoes, onion, olives, or what ever you love.

RE: Carrie's comments...the recipe states "PIE PLATE" which is a standard 9-inch "PIE DISH/PAN"! When you add the taco seasoning you need to add water ,as the sour cream is it's own layer. Tortilla chips give it a MORE traditional "Mexican" flavor and they DO NOT make it runny! As far as the baking FOLLOW the recipe and there will be NO problems.

Your defensiveness regarding Carrie Heitz comments is shameful. If you post a recipe it is inevitable that you will receive mixed reviews.

I agree with Courtney - easy on the defense - recipes are to be adjusted to ones own liking!
