NANA'S GERMAN-APPLE CAKE 
3 c. flour
1/2 c. sugar
1 tsp. baking powder
1 c. Crisco
1/2 c. ice water
1 tsp. vanilla
Apples

TOPPING:

1 c. sugar
1-2 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. nutmeg
1 tbsp. flour
Pinch salt
Butter

CRUST: Sift top 3 ingredients. Mix together next 3 ingredients. Mix altogether. Press into 11 x 13 inch pan, making bottom and sides. Peel and slice apples into wedges. Place wedges, small edge down, in rows and cover bottom of pan.

TOPPING: Mix topping ingredients - sprinkle over apples - dot with butter. Bake at 450 degrees for 10 minutes. Bake at 325 degrees until apples are soft.
