APPLE DRESSING | |
1 tbsp. drippings 2 tbsp. onions (chopped) 1 qt. finely chopped apples 4 c. stale bread (broken up) 1 egg 1 tsp. salt 1/2 tsp. grated nutmeg 1/8 tsp. pepper 1/8 tsp. paprika 2 tbsp. chopped parsley (optional) 1 tbsp. poultry seasoning (optional) Takes a large pan. Put drippings and onions in frying pan, cook for a few minutes. Add apples and continue cooking until real hot. Cover bread for a minute with cold water. Remove and press out water, put with apples in pan. Add the seasoning and beaten egg, parsley, etc. Mix well and stir often until thoroughly cooked, then stuff into bird. This recipe will fill a 15 to 20 pound bird. |
