OATMEAL BREAD | |
1 heaping c. quick oatmeal 2 tsp. salt 1/2 c. molasses 1/4 c. shortening (Crisco) Pour over all this 2 cups boiling water. Cool to 110 degrees. Add 1 package yeast softened in 1/4 cup warm water and 1 teaspoon sugar. Add 3 cups sifted flour. Beat well and add about 3 cups flour, or enough so you can knead it and still have a soft dough. Let rise 1 hour. Shape into rolls or bread, let rise until double, about 1 hour. Bake rolls at 375 degrees about 25 minutes. Bake bread at 350 degrees for 1 hour. |
