I thought I had a package of McCormick Chili Seasoning Mix in my pantry when I went to make chili for dinner tonight. It turned out I didn't, so I searched until I found this recipe...awesome! Just like with the packet!

A bit salty for my taste so I made a double batch and left out the seasoned salt the second time around (effectively cutting it in half). That did it. Very good blend of ingredients.

I use this in place of McCormick's every time. Would be 5 but I use about 1/2-3/4 seasoning salt and I love salt, never buy reduced sodium varieties.

Ran out of McCormick after using it for years. Tried your recipe, except cut back on salt. Came out great! No more packets!

Your Chili Seasoning Mix recipe sounds really tasty. It calls for 1 Dried Chili Pepper (crushed and seeds removed). What kind of dried chili pepper do you use?
