JON'S 2ND PLACE CROCK POT CHILI
3/4lb ground beef
1/2 lb pork sausage
1 cup chopped onion
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 yellow bell pepper, seeded and cut into 1/2-inch pieces
1 red bell pepper, seeded and cut into 1/2-inch pieces
2 cups beef broth
1 cup jar medium chunky salsa
1 can red chili beans, rinsed and drained
1 package your favorite chili seasoning mix
2-3 tbsp. finely chopped canned chipotle chile peppers in adobo sauce
1 tsp. cayenne pepper

Brown hamburger and sausage in a skillet over medium-high heat.

Place hamburger/sausage mixture in a 4-quart slow cooker. Add bell peppers, onion, garlic, beef broth, salsa, chili beans, chili seasoning mix, chipotle peppers, and cayenne pepper. Peppers, onions and garlic will cook just fine in the crock pot, no need to precook. Add extra beef broth as necessary for desired consistency.

Cover and cook on LOW for 8 to 10 hours or on HIGH for 5 to 6 hours.

Serve with sour cream and cilantro, if desired.

A cup of awesome sauce, used ground beef, but it was a hit. Although I'm vegan, my family loved it. Thank you :)
