CRANBERRY MOLD SALAD LIKE
GRANDMA NEVER MADE

CRANBERRY MOLD:

1 (3 oz.) pkg. cherry Jello
1 (3 oz.) pkg. raspberry Jello
1 c. (packed) chopped (not mashed) fresh cranberries
1 c. heavy whiskey (such as Jack Daniels)
1 orange finely cut
2 tbsp. dried orange peel
2 tbsp. dried lemon peel
1/8 tsp. nutmeg
1/8 tsp. allspice

CREAM TOPPING:

1 c. heavy whipping cream
2 tbsp. powdered sugar
1/4 tsp. vanilla
1/8 tsp. mace
3 tbsp. chopped black walnuts

Boil 1 1/2 cups water with 1/2 cup whiskey, lemon and orange peel and spices. Add Jello and dissolve. Remove from heat and add 1/2 cup cold water and chill until thickened, but not set. Add cranberries, remaining whiskey and cut orange. Allow to set overnight in a 10 inch ring mold (or whatever hand mold you like). For serving, invert onto a dish in the usual manner and garnish with the medium-whipped cream, topping with the chopped walnuts.

Serves about 8 folks, or 2 if anybody has had it before. (Note: This method uses far less water in preparing the Jello than usually called for. But then, usual recipes don't include as much fruit and are not banned from AA's holiday parties.)
