WORLD'S BEST CHOCOLATE CHIP
COOKIES
 
2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
1 cup (2 sticks) butter, softened
1/2 cup white sugar
1 cup brown sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla extract
1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
1 cup grated semi-sweet chocolate (optional)

Preheat oven to 375°F.

In small bowl combine flour, baking soda and salt. Set aside.

In a larger bowl add softened butter, both sugars and vanilla. Beat. Add eggs one at a time beating well after each addition. Add flour mixture a little at a time, and chocolate mixture. Grease a cookie sheet and drop cookie dough with spoon.

Bake at 375°F for 9 to 11 minutes or until golden brown.

Note: If not using grated chocolate, increase chocolate chips to 2 cups.

This recipe looks like what I was looking for, except I will use 1/2 cup butter and 1/2 cup shortening for soft and chewy cookies.
