SOPAIPILLAS 
1 1/2 c. flour
2 tsp. double-acting baking powder
3/4 tsp. salt
2 tbsp. shortening, cut in sm. pieces
1/2 c. lukewarm water
Oil for frying

Combine dry ingredients; add shortening. Work with hands until mixed and mealy. Add water and form into ball. Knead on lightly floured board about 5 minutes. Allow dough to rest 15 minutes. Divide in half and roll out 1/8" thin. Cut in pie shape and cook in hot 400 degree oil. Turn often to brown evenly. When light brown, remove and drain. Serve with butter and honey. (May be sprinkled with powdered sugar and cinnamon while hot.)
