FREDDY'S GERMAN RED CABBAGE 
1 head red cabbage
1 sm. onion
butter
1 bay leaf
Raisins
Wine vinegar
Brown sugar

Shred red cabbage. Saute onion in butter. Put red cabbage, sauteed onion, and wine vinegar in Dutch oven. Cook for 1 hour or more on stove top with cover on. Add bay leaf, raisins, brown sugar to taste. Slowly cook, stirring often so brown sugar does not brown. Cook until most liquid is absorbed.
