GREEN TOMATO PICKLES | |
4 quarts sliced green tomatoes 2 lg. onions, sliced 2 green peppers, sliced small Put 1/3 cup canning salt over mixture and cover with ice; mix well. Let stand 3 hours. Drain well. Combine sugar, vinegar and spices and pour over drained tomato mixture, heat just to boiling. Seal in sterile jars. SYRUP MIXTURE: 1 1/2 tsp. turmeric 1/2 tsp. celery seed 2 tbsp. mustard seed 5 c. sugar 3 c. vinegar |
