SWEDISH CROWN CAKE 
1/2 c. butter
1/2 c. sugar
4 egg yolks
2 tbsp. baking powder
1 c. flour
4 tbsp. milk

MERINGUE:

1 c. sugar
4 egg whites
1 c. nuts

FILLING SUGGESTIONS: Whipped topping OR ice cream and strawberries.

Beat cake ingredients together; separate into 2 layer pans and set aside.

Beat meringue ingredients together until stiff. Divide and spread on top of layers. Sprinkle each layer with 1/2 cup nuts.

Bake at 350 degrees for 1/2 hour. Cool and remove from pans. Mixture will rise during baking and fall somewhat while cooling. Add filling and either refrigerate or freeze before serving.

The final appearance of the dessert should be: meringue/cake/filling/cake/meringue.
