HAMBURGER POT PIE WITH ONION
PASTRY
 
2 c. sifted flour
3/4 c. shortening
1 tsp. onion salt
1/4 c. cold water

FILLING:

1 tbsp. shortening
2 c. drained green beans
1 lb. lean ground beef
1 tsp. salt
1 tbsp. sugar
1/2 c. chopped onions
1/4 tsp. pepper
1/8 tsp. oregano
1 (10 oz.) can tomato soup

Preheat oven to 400 degrees (metal plate 425 degrees). Crust: sift flour before measuring. Cut shortening into flour. Mix onion salt with water; sprinkle into flour mixture, 1 tablespoon at a time. Work dough into a firm ball, divide into 2 flat circles. Roll out to fit a 9 inch pie plate, fill with hamburger mixture, cover and cut slits. Bake for 25 minutes. Filling: In skillet heat 1 tablespoons shortening, add ground beef, cook until just brown and crumbly. Stir in beans, soup (no water) and seasonings. Pour into pastry lined pie plate. Other vegetables may be added or substitute for beans.
