COFFEE SPICE CAKE 
1/2 c. soft butter
1 c. light brown sugar, packed
2 eggs
1/2 tsp. vanilla extract
1/2 tsp. lemon extract
1 1/2 c. sifted flour
1 1/2 tsp. double-acting baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 tsp. ginger
1/4 tsp. cloves
1/4 tsp. nutmeg
1/3 c. undiluted evaporated milk
1/4 c. strong coffee
Coffee Frosting, below

Cream butter and sugar until light. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Add flavorings. Add sifted flour, baking powder, salt and spices alternately with milk and coffee, beating until smooth. Pour into two 8-inch layer pans, lined on the bottom with paper. Bake in 350 degree oven 25 minutes. Cool and frost.

COFFEE FROSTING:

Cream 1/3 cup butter. Add dash of salt and 1/2 teaspoon vanilla. Gradually beat in 2 1/2 cups confectioners' sugar and enough strong coffee to moisten, about 2 tablespoons.
