I added frozen hashbrown potatoes and sprinkled some garlic powder over the top sauteing it with the onion, then added the chopped cabbage. I'll make it again for sure. I might sprinkle some cheese over the top for an extra kick.

Great recipe. Quick and easy and tastes great! I used a wok to cook it.

This is a great way to make mouthwatering cabbage! Even family who didn't THINK the liked cabbage asked for more!! We use white onion and add a package of fresh mushrooms sliced. The mushrooms add a salty flavor without salt! The longer they cook the saltier it gets, so we use only pepper. WONDERFUL recipe!!

***Forgot to add*** We use a cast iron skillet or heavy stainless skillet for best results. This way you can scrape the bottom of the pan (add a little water if necessary) to get all the flavor from the onion mushroom and pepper!

I have always cooked my fried cabbage the way my grandmother did with dry salt meat, but lately I have replaced the dry salt meat with olive oil, for a spicy flavor add some fresh green pepper. Saute the onion and green peppers before adding the cabbage, keep nose from over the pan while sautéing, add the cabbage, black pepper,salt to taste. For added flavor let cabbage brown slightly.

I used the same ingredients as the first reviewer - with one exception... I added 1/2 lb. browned Sweet Italian Sausage. This was AMAZING. The fennel, etc., in the sausage really made this stand out. Served with hot corn muffins. YUM!

One whole small cabbage cut up, 1/2 an onion and 1 stick of butter and 1 cup of water...I cover and steam the cabbage and onion till slightly soft. Then I add 2/3 bag of wide noodles cooked and drained, then more butter and begin to fry this, adding some canola oil if too dry. Then I add more butter, 2/3 cup of Italian bread crumbs. Mix well and continue frying till it starts to lightly brown. Salt and pepper as you go along for taste...When serving, each person can add bacon bits to theirs if they want them... Yum yum, my son cannot get enough... Leftovers the next day heated over again in a skillet are even better the next day. By the way this is my mom's concoction for 9 of us in our family... Makes a lot.

His is a traditional polish dish, although I make this recipe he same, only adding about a tbsp. of Worcestershire sauce something like ten minutes before the cabbage finishes cooking. Amazing as a side, or add some peas and carrots, prepared brown rice and make a well in the middle of the mixture, scramble 2-3 eggs and you have cabbage fried rice! Very simple and delicious recipe, that you can vary to suit your family.

I prepared this recipe as is. It was amazing. Family raved and has requested a repeat.

I have tried this receipt but also I left out the bacon and substituded fresh smoked polish sausage that was either pan fried or boiled is was cut up into small bit sized pieces also I added in mushrooms, and mixed all this together into a large bowl

Use pork chops instead of bacon - brown, remove from skillet - then fry cabbage and onion - add 2 tbsp. water and the pork chops and steam until pork chops are done.

I used 1 lb. bacon, 1 large head of cabbage, 1 large sweet onion, 2 tbsp. minced garlic, olive oil, white vinegar, salt and pepper, garlic and nion powder.

Heated skillet, added bacon, olive oil, onion and garlic. Cooked until bacon was crispy and onions were clear.

Added coarsely chopped cabbage and covered for about 45 minutes on low. Stirred every 10 minutes.

At the end I added a few drips of white vinegar to the finished result.
