FAMILY STYLE BEANS 
2 c. dry beans
5 c. water
1 1/2 tsp. dry mustard
1/8 tsp. pepper
1/3 c. tomato catsup
1 med. onion
1/4 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
2 tbsp. sugar
1/4 c. molasses
1/4 lb. bacon or pork

Wash bean in cold water; drain. Measure water and bring to a boil in saucepan. Add baking soda and beans. Boil 2 minutes, remove from heat, cover saucepan and soak beans in hot water 1 hour. Blend salt, mustard, pepper and sugar. Add molasses. Bring beans to boil and add the seasonings. Add onion, mixing well. Bake for 3 to 4 hours.
