“KNORR SPINACH DIP” IS IN:

KNORR SPINACH DIP 
1 (10 oz.) pkg. frozen chopped spinach, thawed (do not use fresh)
1 1/2 c. sour cream
1 c. mayonnaise (I use Hellmann's)
1 (4 oz.) pkg. Knorr vegetable soup mix
1 (8 oz.) can water chestnuts, finely chopped
3 green onions, finely chopped
Loaf of pumpernickel bread

Squeeze spinach until dry.

In a medium bowl, stir together spinach, sour cream and soup mix. Add finely chopped water chestnuts and green onions. Cover and refrigerate for 2 hours or overnight. Cut slice from top of round loaf of pumpernickel bread, hollow out loaf to leave shell to contain dip. Use bread removed from shell and top slice to cut into bite size pieces.

Butter the inside of the bread shell, fill loaf with dip and place on platter and surround with bread pieces and variety of raw vegetables. Then...GET OUT OF THE WAY!!!

After the dip is eaten, enjoy the dip soaked bread shell as well.

I agree the hawaiian rolls or the bread is better a friend made some for a party and I been wanting it ever since and I don't even eat spinach..but she added cream cheese to hers..OMG! Love it!

I get the Knorr's Vegetable Soup Mix at Krogers. This is one the most convenient and best tasting recipes I have used. Great for pitch-ins!!

If you add about 1/4 cup of salsa to it, and a splash of Worcestershire... it just makes it even better! Serve it with pretzels as well!

I always up the spinach to 2 packages - till it thaws and you squeeze out the excess moisture, I find one isn't enough.

I agree with Michelle - the Hawaiian sweet bread is the greatest to use with this dip; however, here in San Diego, they no longer have just the Vegetable Dip - it' called "Garden Vegetable" or "Spring Vegetable" and isn't as good as the original!
Knorrs, can you tell me where to get it?
As so many of you have you said, it's the BEST!! My hubby WILL NOT EVEN EAT FRESH SPINACH; he HATES spinach, but once I talked him into trying this, (finally, after 10 years of making it) he said, and I quote,"OMG, I've been missing out on this all these years?" ;o)

The first time I tried to make this, everyone was sold out of the vegetable soup mix, So, my daugheter-in-law suggested that we use the onion soup mix instead. It turned out really great! It is always a big hit whenever we take it. A big thank you to my smart daughter-in-law.

This dip is always a hit at work, but it taste the best with Hawaiian bread. Buy the round loaf and carve out the middle to make a bowl. Put the dip inside the bowl and then with your hands break up the carved out bread into bite size pieces and place them around the loaf. If you need more bread buy a pack of the Hawaiian biscuits. Guaranteed Good!!!

I tend to skip the spinach altogether and add more fresh diced vegetables such as carrots, celery, red bell pepper. Thanks to my friend Susan for being the first to bring this wonderful to dip to Bunko parties!!

I make this frequently for parties, and it's always a hit. I sometimes just make the dip and use Triscuits for dipping.

I use chopped FRESH spinach. It's much easier than squeezing out frozen spinach and it tastes much better too.
I do let it chill overnight.
