Instead of salt and sugar, I used brown sugar and a mix of seasonings (seasoning salt, garlic powder, onion powder, red pepper flakes) and my ribs came out very tasty.

Forget the salt and all the other stuff. Use any rub you like, and use beer instead of water, finish on the grill, and don't sauce until then. Do them early, and wrap in foil, or right on the grill. Cattlemans rules!!!

I am a professional chef and this is an excellent, quick, and effective method for ribs. Others look fancier with odd timing changes, but this really is fantastic. I agree with the BBQ outside for five minutes or so and salt/sauce is always an interchangeable option (I used this one first and then modified). A classic!

I made this recipe but of course deviated to suit my taste. The method worked well but I haven't perfected it yet. The next time will be even better. I marinated with liquid smoke to really bring out the flavor of bbq. Didn't work with a lot of salt but seasoned with my own rub and baked without water in the pan. The bake time is a good foundation to build a great rib recipe.

The baking times are spot-on, but I'd like to propose a version with entirely different ingredients:

Before baking, put several dashes of McCormick Steak Seasoning and ground red pepper on the ribs. Then at the end of each hour baking at 250°F, pour maybe 1 tablespoon of Anne Mae Sweet and Spicy Chipotle sauce on the top of the ribs after turning. Then when you're half way done with baking at 400°F, pour Montgomery Inn BBQ sauce on the ribs.

Also, I kept the ribs wrapped in foil (sprayed with Pam) at all times to trap all the juices, and I didn't drain.

They were the best home-baked ribs I've ever had in my life, hands down.
