1/2 c. soft butter
3/4 c. sifted confectioners' sugar
1 tbsp. vanilla
Food coloring (opt.)
1 1/2 c. flour
1/8 tsp. salt (opt.)

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Mix butter, sugar, vanilla and food coloring thoroughly. Measure flour by dip-level-pour method. Blend in flour and salt, if dough is dry then add 1 to 2 tablespoons of heavy whipping cream. Wrap tablespoon dough around filling (chocolate chips, nut, cherries, etc.) . Place 1" apart on ungreased baking sheet. Bake 12 to 15 minutes. Cool. Dip tops of cookies in icing (below). Decorate. Makes 10 to 20 cookies.

ICING: Mix 1 cup sifted confectioners' sugar, 2 tablespoons vanilla and food coloring (if desired).
