JOHNNEY CAKE 
1 c. sugar
1/2 c. shortening
1 egg
1 c. flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
1 c. corn meal
1 c. milk

This is a different type of cornbread - it's sweeter. Combine all ingredients together. Bake in oblong pan or muffin pans. Bake at 425 degrees for 20 minutes or until golden brown.
