HOMEMADE BREAD
2 pkg. yeast
3/4 c. warm milk
1/2 c. sugar
1 tsp. salt
4 1/2-5 c. flour
1/2 c. shortening
2 eggs
1/2 c. warm water

Let yeast set in warm water for 5 minutes. Pour milk over sugar and salt; stir. Beat in 1 cup of flour, shortening, eggs and yeast. Add remaining flour to make soft dough. When it leaves the sides of the bowl, turn out on lightly floured board until it is elastic.

Place in greased bowl, cover with wax paper and let rise until doubled (about 1 1/2 hours). Shape into loaves or dinner rolls. Put on greased sheet or pan. Let rise until doubled (30-40 minutes). Brush with melted butter and bake at 375 degrees for 15-20 minutes for rolls and 30-40 minutes for loaves. Brush with melted butter and serve hot.
