PRIZE GINGERBREAD 
1/2 c. and 1 tbsp. shortening
2 tbsp. sugar
1 egg, beaten
1 c. dark Brer Rabbit Molasses
1 c. boiling water
2 1/4 c. sifted Gold Medal flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking soda
1 1/4 tsp. ginger
1 tsp. cinnamon

Mix first 3 ingredients together. Blend in molasses and boiling water. Sift remaining ingredients together and add, beating until smooth. Preheat oven to 325 degrees. Pour into well greased and floured 9 inch square pan. Bake for 45-50 minutes. Cut in 9 squares in pan. Keep hot and serve with real whipped cream.
