OATMEAL COOKIES 
1 egg
1/4 c. water
1/2 c. butter, softened
1/2 c. shortening
1/2 c. brown sugar, packed
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 pkg. Betty Crocker yellow cake mix
2 c. quick cooking oats
1 c. raisins or cut up dates, if desired
1/2 c. nuts, chopped

Beat eggs, water, butter, shortening, sugar, cinnamon and half of the cake mix until smooth. Stir in remaining cake mix, oats, raisins and nuts. Drop dough by teaspoonful about 2 inches apart onto ungreased baking sheet. Bake at 375 degrees for 10 to 12 minutes. Cool slightly and remove from baking sheet. Makes about 6 dozen.
