Penny cookies are my favorite, although sadly I seem to only get them to turn out right about 1/2 of the time. I would love the secret to successful cookies. Is there a certain temperature that you are boiling it to? Do you cook them on a medium heat? Please help. Thank you!

The recipe I got from my mom uses a candy thermometer and cooks them to soft ball stage (238°F). Otherwise the recipe is pretty much the same. I think the butter got added with the peanut butter and vanilla though.
